In addition to providing donations and cash in kind for the construction of schools, METL is also sponsoring bright students who do not have funding to take up higher education. In 2004, Tsh 20 million was invested for the development of education in Dar es Salaam. The bulk of this was towards providing contributions towards scholarships to poor but deserving students to help them continue their education and partly towards the construction or renovation of schools that approached the Group for donations.
