His Excellency the President of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete visited MeTL's edible Oil Refinery - East Coast Oils and Fats Limited located at Kurasini-Dar es Salaam as part of launch of the National fortification on May 16th, 2013.
We are very proud to have our edible oil and Wheat flour products fortified: Our fortified brands include Mo Oil, Safi Cooking Oil, Safi Wheat Flour and Poa Wheat Flour.
The fortification process is extremely beneficial as it helps fight blindness in children. Furthermore, it also aids in brain development while also boosting the immunity in children.
On addressing the crowd at East Coast, The President said that, "The government is aware that a large number of children suffering from malnutrition are in rural areas and we also know that they use milled flour and oil. So the government, through this campaign, is calling upon installation of fortification devices at the mills."
