East Coast Container Depot is strategically located close to Dar es Salaam port, with its own railway siding. It provides a safe and secure one-stop-shop for transit cargo.

Advantage

The East Coast Container Depot has a railway setting within its yard, thereby transporting the container from the port to the site at a lower cost compared to transportation on road. This shall also reduce the road traffic congestion.

Capacity

East Coast clears containers from the port with an average dwell time of 6 days per container without any penalty or storage charges. The facility received an award for Outstanding Performance in Clearing Containers from the Tanzania International Container Terminal Services (TICTS) in 2009.

Internal Container Depot (ICD)

An MeTL Group ICD would complement the East Coast Container depot by providing a one-stop-shop for the group’s growing import and export trade, with complete logistics support from point of origin to point of consumption.

Advantage

Since the ICD is property of MeTL Group, it gives customers as well as MeTL Group the opportunity to store their containers in a safe, reliable and easy to access location. Furthermore the ICD is located close to the port making it convenient to transport the containers from the port to the location.

  • A fleet of at least 500 trucks to transport goods to customers, across Tanzania and in neighboring countries

  • A workshop fully-fitted out to maintain the MeTL Group fleet and heavy machinery
  • A Star Oils gas station to service the MeTL Group fleet as well as outside customers
  • A Mo Assurance branch to provide on-the-spot insurance solutions for MeTL Group clients and outside customers.
  • A MeTL Group Supermarket within the Star Oils gas station stocked with the group’s wide range of products
