METL was founded on trading which continues to be a crucial core sector for the Group. In fact, the trading division has become stronger and more competitive since METL embarked on its vertical integration strategy and diversified into manufacturing and agriculture. Specifically, METL’s import business has grown exponentially, as demand has increased for necessary imported raw materials to satisfy the company’s own expanding manufacturing base. Similarly, the export division has benefited through METL’s expansion into agriculture and in particular the production of added value processed agricultural produce in high demand for export. Each of these benefits clearly illustrates how expansion across the supply chain has been a very neat and profitable complement to METL’s core business interests.
